Templeport 1-10 Kildallan 1-09

Local rivals Templeport and Kildallan met in the
opening round of the Cavan SFL Division 3 at the Bawnboy venue on
Saturday, 3rd of March and after an interesting and close encounter
it was the homesters, Templeport who won the points on a scoreline
of 1-10 to 1-9.
The Kildallan side had the better of the opening half and at the
break they were good value for their 1-6 to 0-3 lead. Templeport
improved measurably in the second-half and dominated play. They
slowly but surely worked themselves back into the game and with the
game heading into injury time the sides were level at 1-9 apiece. A
swift Templeport counter-attack allowed wing-half back Joe McKiernan
to surge forward and score the winning point for the homesters much
to the delight of the big attendance at the St. Aidan’s Park venue.
Both sides played well in this interesting league encounter, and
will hope to build on this display for the remainder of the league
season.
